When you register a domain name, you are requested to provide a valid postal address, email account and phone as per the policy adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). This info, however, is not kept only by the domain registrar, but is visible to the public on WHOIS websites too, so anyone can view your details and many people may not be pleased with this. Consequently, lots of registrars have launched the so-called ID Protection service, which conceals the domain registrant’s contact details and upon a WHOIS check, people will view the details of the registrar company, not the domain owner’s. This service is also called Privacy Protection or WHOIS Protection, but all these terms refer to one and the same service. Nowadays, most of the Top-Level Domains around the world allow ID Protection to be enabled, but there are still country-specific extensions that don’t support this option.

ID Protection in Website Hosting

If you get a website hosting package from our company, you will be able to enable ID Protection for any of your domains if their extensions support this option. You can register/transfer a domain name and enable ID Protection upon registration or you can activate the service for any of your domain names at any time afterwards through the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is amazingly easy – once you log in, you’ll need to go to the Registered Domains section where you’ll notice a list of all the domains that you have registered through us. For each of them you will see an “ID Protect” icon, which will inform you whether the service is activated or not. By clicking on it, you can either ID-protect the domain, or you can disable the service if it is currently activated.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you wish to conceal the contact information associated with your domain name and you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you’ll be able to enable our ID Protection service either during the account order procedure or at any time later through your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. This service is optional and can be added with a few mouse clicks from the Registered Domains section of the Control Panel where all the domain names that you’ve registered with our company will be listed in alphabetical order. You can activate ID Protection for any of the Top-Level Domain extensions that support this service by simply clicking on the “ID Protect” button on the right-hand side of each domain. In the very same fashion, you can also renew the ID Protection service or remove it – in case you’d like to transfer a domain to another domain name registrar and you need the real email account associated with the domain name to be visible.
